Linli,a popular place opening to the outside in the northwest Hunan,situates at the transitional hilly land form the remainder of the Wuling mountains to the Dongting Lake Basin.There 18 townships(district) under its jurisdicition with a total area of 1210 square km and a population of 430 thousand.
Linli boasts a long history and is endowed with fine spirits of the universe.As early as the New Stone Age,there lived people along the Rivers Dao and li.it was part of the Chu State during the Spring and Autumn and the Warring States period,and was quite advanced politically,economically and culturally,In the 7 Year of Emperor Yong Zheng of the Qing Dynasty(A.D.1729),it was established here Anfu County, and later in 1914 changde its name into Linli County.There conserve 65 primitive cultural relics,3 Warring States period ruins of them Jiuli Chu state Tombs Group are of great momentum and known far and wide.This county produced generatations of talented personages,Lin Boqu,Lin Xiumei,Ding Ling,Xin Shuzhi are the examples of them.
Advantageous location and convenient traffic.It borders Changde in the south,is close to the Yangtze River in the north,connects Zhangjiajie in the west and joins Dongting Lake in the east.The Rivers Dao and Liempty themselves into the sea through the Yangtze River.Railways Zhicheng-Liuzhou and Changsha-shimen and National Highway NO.207 run through its bound.Changde Taohuayuan Airport is quite close by.
Rich natural resources and fine products are famous.It has long been a place of fertile soil and plentiful products.Produces of grains,cotton,oils occupy important positions in China and in the whole province.This county is also abundant in minerals.There are 94 mining areas.The reserves of gypsum and silicon rank top in China,and lime stont,clay and raw coal of huge amount and high value of development.
Simple and honest folkway and stable society.The Linli people is industrious,brave,ardent and kindhearted.In middle 60S,the whole county had distributed neither money nor materials to all households for consecutively three years in order to invest in the lifeline engineering of agriculture-Qingshan Water Turbine-Pump Station which took them as long as ten full years to finish,and composed a glorious chapter of hard struggle and constant endeavor.For years this county walks in the front in the whole province as well as in the whole prefecture as for the comprehensive control over social order.
